Episode 204: Persephone’s Ladder

Editor: Bre Boswell
Released: 23 July 2022

Leto chastises Persephone for being alone without security. Persephone seems confused, unaware she’s in a dream. Apollo appears ready to go on stage somewhere before Leto drags him off and warns him to stop “taking” so much from her, that he’s a king now and doesn’t need it. As they discuss off-side, Persephone gets the instinct that she’s forgetting something, or someone.

As Apollo drags her on stage, she’s distracted by a shooting star. Morpheus appears in the crowd. Apollo regales everyone about how he and Persephone defeated Zeus with the power of their love, his memories of their courtship oddly similar to her time with Hades.

Persephone sees another shooting star, and this time Morpheus catches her attention.

“Beloved, it’s a diamond.”

Morpheus

Persephone runs. Apollo chases but is unable to capture her, and suddenly, they all disappear and she’s standing in an empty land.

A small child-size form hiding under a sheet alerts her to a building in the distance. She sees Hades enter the doorway with a woman and worries for a moment he’s moved on, when she realizes the woman is her.

They are joined by their two small children, who share physical resemblance to them both. The family orders drinks at the coffee shop.

Persephone feels bad to wake him from such a nice dream, but sidles close and whispers, “I need you to wake up, because I love you.”

Immediately, Hades eyes light with recognition. They both fall, transforming from their dream selves into their bodies.

Persephone awakens at the door of Tartarus, which glows and cracks, while Hades remains asleep.
