Episode 194: State of Things

Editor: Bre Boswell
Released: 14 May 2022

Zeus declines Persephone’s request to share the letter with Hades and fails her inspection (without even starting). He implies she let everyone down. Looking to several nymphs who she knows will continue to be unable to visit family and friends between the realms, Persephone pushes back. She calls “bullshit” and even cursing “Fuck You!” She chases after him and reads the letter aloud.

“Dear Hades, I hope you are well. I know it’s been awhile. I still love you.”

Persephone reading her letter to Hades

Zeus appears sad when he hears the letter and returns to Olympus. He admits he could have taken it and just not told her he can’t deliver it to Hades. He asks for cigarettes but a nymph reveals Olympus has “limits on stock” due to an impasse with Hades.

We flashback to one week after the trial, ten years ago. Hades and Hecate appear at a press conference and announce, “Prior to her trial, the Goddess of Spring had filed the necessary paperwork to become a citizen of the Underworld. During the trial, her citizenship was approved. This makes her an official goddess of the Underworld… Until her safe return I will be placing restrictions on Underworld resources and their exportations to Olympus.”

Back in the present, Apollo is speaking to a crowd about pulling together in tough times. He cuts a ribbon for a community center Hestia (and likely TGOEM) was in charge of since she could not be present, clearly garnering good will among the public.

Back in the mortal realm, Eris approaches a disheveled Persephone who stitches the back of her dress (that she borrowed).

“It’s not your job to keep everyone happy all the time. No one likes to admit this, but wrath has its place.”

Eris to Persephone

A blue nymph cries out for Persephone. As they summit a hill, they see Cerberus marching toward them with an injured. foot.
