Episode 198: Persephone Reads

Editor: Bre Boswell
Released: 11 June 2022

Persephone floats in the Underworld sky, looking over an empty and lifeless-looking Underworld. In the distance, it appears her tree is still there, but missing any glowing blooms. As she descends, white, ghost-like hands surround her. It’s snowing and everyone she passes is asleep, at work and in their cars, frozen in time. She goes to Hades home and lets herself in when no one answers. She calls out for Aidoneus and each of the dogs by name and even pats the ground. Rotting food in the fridge stinks up the house.

Heading to her old room, she finds a large pile of presents. The first one she opens says, “Dear Kore, happy birthday. Here’s something to keep you warm when I can’t. Love, Hades.” It’s a lavish white fur coat she puts on immediately.

Moving onto his office for more answers, she puts on Hades giant coat and opens a drawer. In it, she finds another letter addressed to her. This one is the older letter he wrote her as an exercise from his therapist. In it, he admits his feelings for her early on in their meeting which surprises and emboldens Persephone.

“We’ll be together soon.”

Persephone says after reading the letter from Hades

Just after reading the letter, a figure appears in the doorways. It’s Hermes but he has black eyes and is speaking with black speech bubbles in a menacing manner.

“We’ve been looking for you all over the place. You need to come with me right now, little goddess.”
