How long have you been doing cosplay?

I first got interested in cosplay at the end of high school or the beginning of college because of my sister (@sassygills.cosplay). My sister cosplayed Beast Boy and at the time had no one to cosplay with her from the Teen Titans, so I said I would be Starfire. I ended up cosplaying Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad first though, but after that con I was hooked! I have always loved sewing, crafting, and making costumes so I'm a little sad it took me so long to try cosplay!

Who is your favorite Lore Olympus character to cosplay?

Hum… this is a hard one. I really liked cosplaying Ares because the shoot was so dramatic (big cape, armor, spear, mean face, etc.), but I also like Hera because I love doing fancy makeup (I loooooove big false eyelashes). If you forced me to choose… probably Ares because I also love his character. He had a few moments where he was kind of mean, but after Persephone put him straight in season one, he apologised, and has been a favorite of mine ever sense.

Tell us your Lore Olympus story.

Snapchat Webtoons ads got me. I had been seeming ads for Lore Olympus on Snapchat for a month of two right before the pandemic hit and we all had to lock down. I was really bored at the time and was like… why not, it's free! The first season was almost done (I think I fast passed the last four or five episodes). I am big into mushy love stories, drama, Greek mythology, and the art is so beautiful and colorful. I really wasn't planning on cosplaying it, but I had recently gotten Photoshop, and was like "ok, now I don't have to body paint, let's just try it". The response after posting a few Lore cosplays was nothing like I had experienced on my cosplay Insta and as I got deeper into the fandom I liked it more and more. Everyone is so encouraging and supportive! So to answer the question in one sentence, Snapchat introduced me, but the Fandom is what makes me stay. I love you all so much!!!!

What is the most memorable cosplay?

Harley from Suicides Squad was really memorable for me because it was my first cosplay and I made the whole costume from scratch so I was really proud of myself. Also, someone told me I looked like Margot Robbie while I was in cosplay and I just don't think anyone could ever give me higher praise. Thus, that cosplay will forever be my most memorable.

What other fandoms are you in? What’s special about the Lore Olympus fandom?

I like DC a lot. Harley Quinn, Starfire, Wonder Woman, etc. But I never got the same support I got from the Lore community. Honestly when I started my Insta it was mostly Harley and Starfire and unfortunately those characters attached some unwanted attention from people I had to block. Which is really annoying because I really like DC, but I just hated the messages I was getting.

With Lore I have only had positive comments, love, and support. No one is creepy or weird, and no one is mean. I remember being nervous posting my pictures as Daphne because I had some booty showing. I messaged a couple friends asking if they thought it was too much, but they said it was fine. So I posted. Not one gross or inappropriate comment. I was shocked. If I would have done a Harley post with that much butt my DMs would have been full of nasty messages. The Lore fandom is so respectful of other people… And I really love that.

If you could body snatch one LO character for a day, who would it be?

Aphrodites or Hera. The curves on those ladies!!! I have a really small chest so it would be cool to see what big boobs were about for a day. I love my body and all, but it would be fun to try something new.

What does cosplay mean to you?

Creativity. Cosplay is a way for me to express myself creatively. It combines a lot of different crafting elements and I think that is so cool. Sewing, carving, sculpting, building, dying, etc. It's all there in cosplay.

Freedom. I don't know many other hobbies that let you become a totally different person. I really love being someone else for a day and dressing up in fun clothes I wouldn't normally wear. It's freeing.

Any advice for a new cosplayer out there?

Don't be nervous! I was really nervous the first time I went to a convention, but once I started walking around and meeting new people I had so much fun. Everyone was so nice! Most cosplayers are accepting and kind. They will love you :)

Just for fun: Who did you get on the Hades’ dog character quiz?

Pomelia is adorable, but I'd really like to think I'm Cerberus. I like the idea of looking really scary and intimidating, but actually being a big softy. Unless my friends are in trouble, then I'm scary again.
