Background

Psyche is a mortal princess who was known for her extraordinary beauty. This causes Aphrodite to be jealous of her, and so she enlists her son Eros to make Psyche fall in love with a hideous monster. But Eros fell in love with Psyche and takes her away on her wedding night. They lived in an apartment in Olympus. When Psyche’s sisters visited, they got jealous of Psyche and tricked her into attempting to kill Eros.

Aphrodite transforms Psyche into the nymph, Ampelus, in order to test her son and find out how much he truly loves Psyche.

Appearance

Psyche has brown skin and long straight brown hair. She has bright golden eyes. She wears distinctive earrings in her ears.

As a princess, she often wears long dresses and gold jewelry and a crown on her head. While living with Eros at his apartment, she wears a large comfy sweater and leggings.

When Aphrodite transforms her into a nymph, she has purple skin and hair, and the same earrings.

Family

Psyche comes from a noble family in the Mortal Realm. She has two older sisters.

Relationships

Psyche is in love with Eros. In her nymph form, she is often seen hanging out with him and his siblings, though Eros is somehow oblivious about her true identity. As Ampelus, Psyche confesses to Hades that she doesn’t believe Eros will ever figure out who she really is. She is often seen hanging out with him and is implied to be helping him with chores that Aphrodite tasks her son with. Eros is also seen teaching her how to wield a bow and arrow.

Skills & Abilities

Psyche displays an affinity for the arts. In Episode 68, Ludus asks her to draw him.

Trivia & Commentary

  • Psyche was working on a painting of Eros when he meets her for the first time in the Mortal Realm.

  • Psyche was asked to do a series of impossible tasks in order to reunite with Eros. In Lore Olympus, Rachel adapted the myth differently, with Aphrodite enlisting Eros instead to undergo her test.
