Theory: Hephaestus’ Appearance in Season Two (Case Closed!)

By Cara

Where is Hephaestus?

Given that Hephaestus is one of the twelve Olympians, that makes him a major god in Greek Mythology. It’s odd that we still haven’t seen the God of Forgery fire, smiths, and metalworking) in Lore Olympus aside from being mentioned first on the list in Persephone’s list of suitors. This tracks with the mythology, where he was one of Persephone’s many suitors that Demeter denied.

Possible Appearance in Season 2?

Will he finally make an appearance in Season 2? There are several opportunities for his character to integrate into several plot points:

one

Since Hephaestus was known to craft Eros’ arrows, he might even be part of the Eros/Apollo/Daphne plot.

two

As a suitor of Persephone, his involvement could spark jealousy with Hades, Ares, and others.

three

Hephaestus may also be key to further push the Hera and Zeus power struggle arc. In some myths, Hera heartlessly cast away her son from Olympus. Hephaestus’ return is varied in myths, but there is a version wherein he traps his mother on a throne and only releases her once Aphrodite is promised to him in marriage. In the current storyline, Aphrodite (his short-term wife in some myths) is still unmarried despite having eight children.

We don’t know how Rachel will adapt these myths in Lore Olympus, but his character could definitely be pivotal in further progressing several plot arcs.

UPDATE AS OF: JANUARY 31, 2021

THIS THEORY IS:

Hera’s son finally made his much-anticipated appearance at the end of Episode 141, and we finally get to meet Hephaestus in Episode 142! Hephaestus works in Underworld Corp with the company of his AI assistant, Aetna. Hera asked her son for help in deleting Persephone’s photos from Apollo’s phone.
