“Start with a cosplay that you really want to do and love… Play whoever you want, no matter what they tell you and enjoy it.”

Azahara is a curious person who lives in her own world. She works as a visual artist, while preparing to become a teacher in Madrid, Spain.

How long have you been doing cosplay?

I've been cosplaying for 10 years. I was introduced by a friend who took me to a convention. I fell completely in love when I saw my favorite characters in reality. I wanted to achieve that, so that weekend we started a cosplay duo that has lasted many years. At first I didn't know how to sew one fabric with another or what makeup to use, but I still enjoyed every moment I spent cosplaying.

Who is your favorite Lore Olympus character to cosplay?

HADES.

In a way, I find all the characters of Lore Olympus complex and striking. They have a lot of personality, which makes you easily caught, whether good or bad, make you love them or hate them strongly.

Hades was always a character whose mythology fascinated me, and just seeing the comic version conquered me, so much so that it led me to do crossplay for the first time.

What is the most memorable cosplay?

Viserion, Game of Thrones.

I embarked on the adventure of trying to make an unhumanized dragon. It was a real madness. To this day I don't know if I would ever do something like that again, but seeing the result was completely worth it.

Tell us your Lore Olympus story.

I live in Spain, where we have spent almost three months in strict quarantine. I was completely bored, so the day a friend introduced me to Lore Olympus with the phrase "I know you like mythology, look at this" was the day I got hooked.

I caught up with the comic in two days, completely absorbed by the myth version of Persephone and Hades.

What other fandoms are you in? What’s special about the Lore Olympus fandom?

Harry Potter. The magical world of J. K. Rowling has been the fandom that has accompanied me since I was 11 years old, and I have reread the books more times than I can remember.

Regarding Lore Olympus, it wasn't only the fact that I love comics, but when I started cosplaying I discovered people like me that I fell in love with, like Fer (crospottatoo), Yori (yoria_lestat), Gina (ginalvs), Jess (heyjezziecosplay), and Larbi (larbillacosplay). All together, they made me love the fandom so much more.

If you could body snatch one LO character for a day, who would it be?

Aphrodite or Eros. It has to be super fun to spend a day as either of them.

What does cosplay mean to you?

Cosplaying includes all the creative areas I like - makeup, hairdressing, painting, sewing, acting. For me, cosplay is a way to express myself, and I will always consider it an art form.

Any advice for a new cosplayer out there?

Start with a cosplay that you really want to do and love. Be sure it is not too complex as that can cause frustration. Play whoever you want, no matter what they tell you and enjoy it.

Just for fun: Who did you get on the Hades’ dog character quiz?

Cerberus, so…..Absolutely, I am very happy with that result.
